It Ain’t Always about Race

A colleague and pal sends me links occasionally to Keith Olbermann’s commentaries. While I am often sympathetic with what he is going on about, he goes on for far too long, taking ten minutes to say what could be most eloquently delivered in three. In the latest forward, Olbermann talked about the problem of racism in our country – yes, of course it’s still there – and said that the tea-baggers seemed a bit so inclined. He said they often masked their hatred of Obama as other than the racism they felt.

Probably true. Probably not well masked, either. But let’s also note that there are plenty of folks who aren’t at all racist who increasingly can’t stand what this man has done, which is very little, and mostly what he hasn’t done, which is a lot. A couple of headlines in the Washington Post brought this reignited ire to the fore.

The first was "Clinton warns of nuclear buildup" and of course it had to do with Iran. The bloviation about sanctions has done nothing to slow down Ahmedinejad and his unRevolutionary Guard. Obama’s original notion of engagement has turned into just so much talk. If he doesn’t get the rest of the world powers to act to cause an overthrow of their government, Iranians are going to find Israeli bombs and missiles raining down on them.

The second headline was also about nuclear buildup but it was disguised as "Obama pushes clean energy." That’s our nuclear buildup, though anyone who thinks that the waste from nuclear power plants is clean is playing with a short deck.

Why this yahoo-in-chief won’t instead invest in solar power development is beyond comprehension? The Chinese are owning a market that we should have controlled for decades. Catching them and surpassing them in technology would not only help to reduce global pollution but could pay off our national debt.

It really isn’t very complicated. To me the issue is black and white.
